‘Chippendale Unstuck’ – Marquetry Lecture with Jack Metcalfe -25th October

Jack Metcalfe, Marqueteur - currently working on a replica of the circular dressing room pier table originally made for Harewood House and now in the Chippendale Society collection.Many readers will know of our longstanding member Jack Metcalfe and his fabulous work on recreating and understanding Chippendale’s marquetry techniques.

For many months he has been busy recreating the marquetry of the pier table originally from the Circular Dressing Room at Harewood House.

The lecture titled “Chippendale Unstuck” tells the fascinating story behind the demise of the original table made for the then circular dressing room at Harewood House in 1772. Jack’s subsequent replica reproduction of the stunning marquetry work designed by Chippendale, reveals how the original marquetry was constructed, showing 18th century techniques to build an exact replica.

The talk is on Wednesday October 25th at 10am and will be held at the Grove Centre, New Street, Horsforth, Leeds, LS18 4BH
